CRL Black 777 Butyl Rubber Sealant

CRL 777 Butyl Rubber Sealant is a unique, butyl-based product specially formulated using a blend of age-resistant polymers to provide excellent weathering properties at various temperature extremes. This sealant offers excellent adhesion to most clean surfaces and can withstand joint movement of ±10% without affecting its water-tightness. It also contains a special ultraviolet fighting agent for exceptional service life.

Recommended for exterior applications, CRL 777 Butyl Rubber Sealant features excellent adhesion to wood, masonry, glass, concrete, some plastics, and metal surfaces. It is particularly suitable for use in hidden areas, such as under sill cans, thresholds, and around screw heads. Other good applications for this proven butyl sealant include between metal building panels, wall-mounted air conditioning units, under aluminum siding, and gutters.

The application temperature range for CRL 777 is 40°F to 120°F (4°C to 49°C), and the service temperature range is -20°F to 200°F (-29°C to 93°C). The sealant can be painted after 24 hours.

CRL 777 Butyl Rubber Sealant meets the following specifications: Federal Specifications TT-S-001657, Type 1, and TT-C-1796A, as well as ASTM C 1311 and AAMA 808.3-05. It is also USDA Certified.

It is important to note that CRL 777 is not recommended for use in sealing horizontal decks, patios, driveways, or terrace joints where abrasion or physical abuse is encountered. It is also not suitable for window glazing applications or hidden joint details that require a non-skinning, non-hardening sealant. The sealant has a solvent-based curing system, and a slight odor of mineral spirits may be detected during application, which is normal. It is recommended to avoid using this sealant where the odor may be objectionable, such as in refrigeration units that will be stocked soon after construction. Always check the cartridge label and Specification Data Sheet for any additional limitations.
